Disney's 101 Dalmatians KIDS

Charlie auditioned on Aug 22 and was cast as Sergeant Tibbs — a named featured role, one of 29 in a company of 60. Music Theatre International describes Tibbs as “the army cat that rallies the Dogs of London to rescue the puppies… cast an actor with a strong voice that can project an authoritative air.” He enters at the climax, sings a short, high solo, then leads “The Chase” at the head of two dozen Dogs of London.

VACT double-cast the show. Charlie is in Thunderbolts, which performs Friday night and Saturday afternoon; the Kanine Krunchies cast has the other two shows.

Happily Ever Before

Charlie's first show with the Wisconsin Heights Players in Mazomanie, and his first community play outside a camp. The fall youth production throws the whole fairy-tale canon into one room — Snow White, Cinderella, Briar Rose, Rumpelstiltskin, the Big Bad Wolf, Goldilocks, Robin Hood — and Charlie plays Hansel, opposite Audrey as Gretel.

Director Cherith Brown, who cast him: “I'm so excited to get to work with Charlie. He seems like he will be a lot of fun. I love his confidence.”

How I Became a Pirate

Charlie spent two weeks at VACT's summer musical camp learning the ropes — auditions on day one, then choreography, songs, and dialogue every day until the curtain went up. He landed a lead: Braid Beard, the pirate captain — the swashbuckler who spots Jeremy Jacob's digging talent and recruits him into the crew. Front and center with the Jolly Roger through the big numbers and the curtain call.

A Year with Frog & Toad KIDS

Charlie's first Summer Stage production at Children's Theater of Madison — two weeks of rehearsal ending in a full performance on the MYArts stage. He played the Mole, and by his dad's account came home “buzzing every day.” Exactly the kind of part he'd hoped to land.

Based on Arnold Lobel's beloved Frog and Toad books — a warm, funny musical about two best friends and a year of small adventures.
